A Vital Community Resource.

A vital community resource.

The Westfield Church has served as a focal point for community outreach programs that inform, support, encourage, and inspire. From the Blessing of the Backpacks for grade school students, blood drives, counseling services, play groups, concerts, and yoga to hospice programs for the greater community, the Westfield Church is the heart and soul of the Danielson historic district.

In November of 1944, in the heart of World War II, a letter was distributed to members of The Westfield Church asking for financial support: “Our church is a powerful influence for good in the community. The doors of the church must remain open, her bell must continue to ring, and her program of worship and activities must be aggressive and helpful. When our boys return from the conflict, we want our church to be visible proof that we have been standing by, preserving and promoting with loyalty what is best in our community.”

These sentiments remain today. WE continue to serve the greater community with innovative programs and activities designed to inform, support, encourage, and inspire. More than a church, we are a community of individuals who touch the hearts and minds of people throughout the region. From welcoming newborns, blessing new lives together or bidding farewell to friends and loved ones, we celebrate the life of our communities every day.

The church is a wonderful resource in our community. When they blessed the backpacks for students, they not only donated a large number of backpacks stuffed with school supplies, they went out of their way to find supplies appropriate for each grade level. Even dying the Christmas season, they fill the needs and wants of our families by buying coats and mittens to ensure families in need have a nice Christmas.

The church goes above and beyond in our community. It takes a village, and we appreciate their support. I love our relationship with the church family.

One of the most challenging and yet most rewarding parts of my vocation is meeting those who come to our door in need and helping them take steps toward a better life. We offer emotional and spiritual support and even financial support, when we can. It isn’t about their faith; it’s about ours. We help people because the Gospel compels it. This is the heart of our church mission and the value of a thriving church.
